Loopring’s official X (Twitter) account is seemingly compromised by phishing attackers as they ask community members to claim the LRC airdrop.

Bad actors constantly target crypto users through fake giveaways, airdrops, and whitelisting access.

Loopring X Account Remains Under Hackers’ Control For Nearly 24 Hours

Blockchain security company PeckShield informed the community members that Loopring’s X account had been compromised. The scammers are trying to redirect the Loopring community to a phishing website by using airdrops as bait.

Loopring warned its Discord community members about the hack around 6:40 PM UTC on Sunday. As of writing, it has been 20+ hours, yet the project still needs to regain control of its X account. The community wonders why X has been slow in supporting Loopring.

Meanwhile, hackers continue posting phishing links from the official X account. The screenshot below shows that the latest phishing post is five minutes old.

The details about the amount lost to phishing hackers are not available yet. Lately, phishing attacks are common occurrences in the crypto realm.

Also, users should cross-verify when there are suspicious airdrops or giveaway announcements. Previously, in October, BeInCrypto reported that scammers stole around $450,000 by impersonating the crypto exchange – Binance. And, in September, the phishing attackers targeted Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s X account, stealing over $700,000.
